Social media is an ever-changing entity. New networks and platforms pop up all the time, each with its own unique user base and appeal. For example, if you really like the way a brand uses visual imagery, you can adopt that for your own social media plan.

The important part here is to draw inspiration—NOT copy word-for-word or lift someone’s image completely. When done correctly, you will have an unending source of ideas that you can tweak for your own unique content.

3. Keep it Simple for Peace of Mind

As mentioned with consistency, it’s important to stick to your plan. That’s why it’s also important to make your guidelines and then stick to them. The simpler you make it, the easier it will be to remain loyal to your social media marketing plan.

4. Take Constructive Criticism

This is likely the toughest part of any social media marketing job. Sometimes, the ideas you think are great are not as well received as you’d like. It’s important to listen to the feedback of your clients and followers and consider what they’re saying. Sometimes, as much as the criticism hurts, it’s valid. Maybe your color scheme is jarring for a lot of people, or maybe your posts are just hitting the wrong notes. It’s always possible that there was something lost in the creative process. So, be willing to view this as an opportunity to grow as a business and find new ways of pleasing your clients and customers.
